Mike & Kara Are Engaged!

Thursday, May 28, 2009

For those of you that know Mike, we never thought this day would actually come! Mike and I have been good friends for probably 8 years now and I was so excited to hear he was finally ready to settle down with such a fabulous girl. I have not only been great friends with Mike over the years, but have pretty much been the "Osborn" family photographer for as long as I have been doing photography. It started out when I was going to Brooks and needed someone to model for me for my final projects. Mike's brother David, gladly volunteered and I took photos of him for the next few years. He is a fabulous musician and it was a nice trade since he got to use the photos for his CD covers and posters. Then a couple years went by and their younger sister Katie got engaged. I still had not photographed a wedding yet, but Mike had complete faith in me that I was the right one to do his sister's wedding. So off I went with my new found love of photographing weddings!

Mike and Kara are a gorgeous couple together and I can't wait to see them tie the knot!

This photo just makes me laugh!

LOVE Kara's eyes!!!

I read the caption to this photo out loud as I photographed it...
"No, I will never get married. I'm not coming down from this tree!"

The Strong Family

Monday, May 25, 2009

I was really excited for this family shoot because Victoria was the winner of my 1st annual "Mother's Day Photo Session Giveaway."

Their sweet 19 month old daughter Gwendolyn, has Spinal Muscular Atrophy or SMA Type 1. SMA is the leading genetic killer of infants. It is a terminal, degenerative disease that results in the loss of nerves in the spinal cord and the weakness of the muscles connected with those nerves. SMA impacts the ability to walk, stand, sit, eat, breathe and even swallow. The mind and spirit are no different from that of a healthy baby, but the body eventually fails. Typical babies with SMA Type 1 have a life expectancy of between one and two years and they require around-the-clock medical assistance and monitoring.

They are such a cute family was so much love to give. I got so many wonderful smiles from little Gwendolyn and each one just melts your heart!

To view Gwendolyn's journey through life please click here to follow their blog. Also, please take a minute sign the petition here to end SMA!

This is one of my favorite family photos of them!

My Beautiful Big Sister!

Sunday, May 24, 2009

My parents have been nagging me for the last 4-5 years to get a few shots of my sister every time she comes down to SB for a visit. Well, today was the day, and I think my parents will be super happy with how great they turned out!

The more I look at these photos, the more it trips me out how much we look alike! Sometimes I quickly glance at her, and I feel like I'm looking at myself. It's such a weird feeling, but it also gives me such a warm feeling inside because of how close we are...

I love my Nikki's laugh!

And the winner is...

Thanks again for your extremely touching entries! I loved reading through them, but could only choose one winner. The winner of the 1st annual Mother's Day Photoshoot Giveaway is Victoria Strong...

Here's a little excerpt from Ronda Fallon's nomination. "I know the perfect Mom to receive this gift for Mother's Day. Her name is Victoria Strong. She is the most caring, unselfish and positive person I have ever met!"

Victoria and her family will receive a free photo session with me and a $100 print credit to use towards her beautiful prints.

I hope all of the fabulous Mommies out there have a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow!

Please remember if you took the time to nominate a special Mom for the giveaway, that you will receive a $50 credit towards a photoshoot with me or can use the credit towards prints.

Gail & Shaun Are Engaged!

Sunday was another gorgeous day and the weather wasn't the only thing lookin' hot! Gail showed up in a gorgeous vibrant dress & heals and she looked fabulous against our wonderful backdrop of green grass and blue skies. Shaun didn't look too shabby himself!

I've mentioned it before that City College has got to be one of my favorite locations to shoot at! There's so many breathtaking locations right on campus... After we made our way around the entire campus, we headed to Hendry's Beach for a few sunset beach shots.
