SB PUG with Dane Sanders!

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Last night I hosted my monthly PUG (Pictage User Group) meeting and the super fabulous Dane Sanders was our guest speaker. If you're wondering what a PUG is, it is a community of Pictage photographers that gets together once a month to learn, share and connect. The goal of our meetings are to help photographers grow in respects to their photography, business and personally. I have spoken with a lot of photographers that are hesitant to attend our meetings becuase they feel they have nothing to contribute because they are just starting out in the business. My response to that, is that these meetings are perfect for them and the best thing they could possibly do for their new business. We are a friendly group that loves to share our own knowledge and "secrets" of the business. We have even recently opened up the meetings to non-Pictage members as well. So if you are a photographer or thinking about becoming one and need a little inspiration, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Each month I put on a meeting with a different topic or guest speaker. Previous topics/speakers have included: learning about self-employment taxes, how to "wow" your clients with your marketing & gifts, album designs & the sharing of albums, organizing your client database online, life coaching, how to be a leader and the list goes on and on...

Last night we had a great turnout and I was excited to see some new faces! We even had the special treat of Pictage's new CEO Jim Collins visit us! Dane was such an amazing speaker and truly knows how to keep you involved the entire time he is speaking. He got us thinking about how to "go off automatic" (or otherwise known as autopilot) and "stand out in a crowd." He also has a great new book that I am so excited to start reading! I have heard nothing but wonderful things about it! Check it out here: Fast Track Photographer

Thanks again Dane for inspiring us all!

Ally & Mike are engaged!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

I have been looking forward to this engagement session since Ally & Mike booked me months ago. I have known Mike for about 8 years now when we used to be buddies during college. I was so excited to find out he had met a wonderful girl and asked her to marry him!

We had a blast with our shoot and I don't think I have ever laughed so hard while taking pictures before. I can't wait for their wedding in about a month - it's going to be like one big college reunion for me, so it will be a lot of fun!

Baby Adam Brooks Firestone

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Andrew & Ivana Firestone gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Adam Brooks, on March 21st. We had originally scheduled a photoshoot for their baby's newborn photos for the 2nd week of April, but little baby Brooks decided he wanted to come out and play 3-4 weeks early! Surprisingly he still weighed 8lbs!

I had met Ivana over a year ago when she started taking my Body Boot Camp class to get ready for her wedding in July. I was so excited when she told me she was pregnant because our little ones were going to be only 6 weeks apart!

We ended up taking these photos when their little peanut was only 9 days old.

This photo of Andrew and the smiley little guy just melts my heart!

I just love all the expressions he already makes!
Doesn't Ivana look fabulous for just giving birth less then 2 weeks before?!

The proud Papa doing his Daddy duties...

"US" Magazine didn't use my photos for their story, but they did take a picture of their birth announcement, which had my photos on it :)

Zack & Gina are married!

I was so excited to be the photographer for Zack and Gina's wedding that took place over the Easter weekend. My husband has been good friends with Zack since they were in grade school together, so my whole family was also there as guests.

It was a gorgeous day in Sonoma County at the Wedgewood Wedding Center. I absolutely loved all of the bright colors that were incorporated throughout the entire day. My favorite detail though was Gina's fabulous pink heels! So hot!

I want to give a huge thanks to my wonderful 2nd photographer Muir Adams. He drove all the way from Eureka to shoot with me and he did such a fabulous job capturing so many great moments throughout the day. Thanks Muir!

Isn't she just stunning?!

Loved the mariachi band that followed Gina up and down the aisle...

Muir got this great shot of the guys walking in towards the ceremony site

I must have said something extremely funny! I love when my 2nd photographers zoom in for the close-ups during my group shots. Great shot Muir!

Here's Muir's angle from the same shot

I love low light images during the reception.
It gives so much more emotion when you can avoid using flash
