The Braun Family

I had such a fun time meeting the cute little Braun Family a couple weeks ago. Their little boys are so full of energy and such handsome little fellas. They kept me on my toes the entire session, but I managed to get a bunch of super fun shots of them running circles around me :)

After our session, I learned the Brauns are also the owners of the super yummy Pizza Guru on upper State St. I had never been there before, but have now found a new favorite spot to eat! I have major food allergies, and they have so many different options that are just for people just like me. If you've never been there before... you HAVE to give it a try. Since our session, I have eaten there 3-4 times already :)

The Brewer Family

I had so much fun photographing the Brewer family last weekend! I rarely get to photograph a family that doesn't have kids still in diapers and need me to make funny animal sounds to make them smile. I have known Scott for just about as long as I have been in Santa Barbara (almost 11 years!) He was my academic counselor while I attended City College and he spent HOURS trying to help me figure out my future and where I wanted to go. It's funny how things turn out... I think our final plan for me was to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and major in Kinesiology. And now... I attended Brooks and majored in Portraiture and I'm a wedding/portrait photographer. At least I'm still using what I learned at city college and 2nd as a personal trainer during the weekdays.

Of course it was only fitting that we do their photos at SBCC

The Donnell Family

First I just want to apologize for being so far behind on my blogging! I have officially caught up with all of my work and look forward to posting new sessions just about everyday. I think I have a family session booked 7 days/week from now until mid-December!

I look forward to photographing the Donnell family each and every year. I will always hold a special place for them because they were my very first clients many years ago. It has been so fun watching their sweet little family grow!

These photos were taken at Los Carneros Lake

I LOVE this one! So sweet!

Now that I'm a mother myself, some of my favorite photos are
from the sweet moments only a mom and daughter share.

Voted as one of the Best Wedding Photographers in Santa Barbara!

Once a year, the SB Independent puts out the "Santa Barbara's Best of Readers' Poll" where people in the community nominate their favorite businesses. To my surprise, I was voted as one of the best wedding photographers in 2009! I almost dropped the phone when the sweet woman called me to tell me the exciting news last week. The hardest part has been trying to keep it a secret until now... The best part is that I didn't even ask anyone to vote for me this year, it just happened!

I am completely honored that so many people in this community believe in me and feel I am even worthy of this award. This year of weddings was a lot harder then any previous year for me, because I gave birth to my first beautiful baby girl in February. Not only was I focused on giving 110% of my energy to each of my couples before, during and after their wedding, I was also learning how to adapt to being a new Mom, as well as being a working Mom. Believe me, I had A LOT of sleepless nights these last 8 months. Whether it was from a sleepless baby, or just staying up late to get all my editing done after my baby went to sleep at night. I honestly couldn't have made it through this year without all of the love and support (and babysitting) from my wonderful family - especially my husband who is so understanding when I stay up all night editing photos and updating my blog!

I started my wedding photography business back in 2005 and have relied 100% on referrals from previous clients to keep my business going. My theory on maintaining a successful referral based business is to invest in your clients instead of advertisements. I offer the highest quality of products and do all that I can to make each couple's experience with me stress free and happy. It is pretty common for me to help out with all aspects of the wedding and not just the ones related to photography. I love everything about weddings and love to help out as much as I can since I have so much experience in the industry.

Thanks again to all of you who voted for me - and an extra big thanks to my wonderful clients, because I wouldn't be where I am today without you!!!

xoxo

Erika & Jay are married!

This was my last wedding of the season and it was such a great wedding to end on! The ceremony was held at the Sullivan Goss Gallery and the reception was next door at the Arts & Letters Cafe. It was such a unique location and Erika did a phenomenal job of putting together all the details and tying them all together to make such a beautiful wedding. She even brought along a white beach cruiser which was such a cool prop to have in the pictures! The whole day was just filled with lots of beauty, smiles, and tears of joy.

Along with Erika's wonderful eye for detail, she had a great team of vendors that helped bring her vision to life...

DJ: Craig Jenkins with Santa Barbara DJ's
Flowers: Renae’s Bouquet
Cake: Montecito Confection
Videographer: Karen Nedivi
Thanks again to my 2nd photographer who did another wonderful job helping me out: Veronica Slavin

I have always wanted to have a bride that wore a birdcage veil. Gorgeous!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I loved how all the bridesmaids had different bouquets of flowers.
They were the most unique looking flowers too...

Erika's bouquet was the best smelling bouquet I have ever smelt!
I'm not sure if she noticed, but anytime I was next to her, I bent over to get a quick sniff :)

She sure knows how to work it! This looks like it's straight out of a magazine

I love this candid shot of her walking away with her bridesmaids

Thanks to Ronnie for getting this great wide-angle shot of the ceremony

The way they kept looking at each other during the ceremony just melted my heart

This was such a funny moment... you had to be there!

So happy to be married...

And don't forget about Mollie Brown! She was with them the entire day

Here are some of the fun details...

Brooke's Senior Portraits - Class of 2010

Yesterday I met up with Brooke to do her senior portraits. She is absolutely adorable and we got a ton of great shots! We started out at the Douglas Preserve and then made our way down to the beach so she could pose in her Cheer outfit. We finished the shoot at the beautiful Alice Keck Park, which I realized is absolutely gorgeous all year-round!

She looks like a gorgeous model in this one!

I LOVE her eyes!!!

I LOVE this one...

Cute little Chloe

Last week I met little Chloe and her family for our photoshoot at the SB Mission. Chloe is turning one soon so her Mom wanted to get some pictures done. We started out with her in her adorable dress she was getting Christened in this last weekend. Ohhh the cuteness!!!

This little look just kills me!
I guess this is a new look she just started doing recently...

This one is my absolute favorite!
